iPic Theaters is bringing a whole new level of hospitality to the movie theater experience with its 10th theater opening in Los Angeles’ Westwood neighborhood on May 2. The lobby, for instance, is similar in style to that of a hotel or upscale cocktail lounge, and that is just the beginning. Everything from the seating to the food to the service are all reasons for meeting planners to start taking movie theaters seriously as event space options.
The theater houses six screens and a total of 424 seats, which are each large, plush leather seats. Premium Plus seating features reclining seats, as well as blankets, pillows and an individual service-call button that summons a server who will deliver the theater’s signature dishes and handcrafted cocktails. The culinary experience for that matter is just as noteworthy, with a locally sourced gourmet menu featuring dishes, such as salmon tartar cones and lobster rolls. The handcrafted cocktails also feature fresh produce and herbs, and are created using house-made syrups, bitters and infusions. The Norma Jean, for instance, is made with Marilyn Monroe vodka and from-scratch strawberry lemonade.
Prevue spoke with Danielle Deojay, marketing communications manager for iPic Entertainment about what this new theater experience bring to the events market and why to plan an event in a theater—now.
How will the new theater be beneficial for group events?
Deojay: iPic is all about choices, and we offer a variety of options for private and corporate events. With six screens ranging in capacity from 44 to 108, we can hold a variety of in-theater events ranging from social gatherings to business meetings complete with PowerPoint presentations on-screen. Our talented culinary and mixology teams take pride in crafting incredible food and drink offerings with choices ranging from a Chef’s Tasting Menu to a Bellini Action Station.
For a more traditional restaurant dining experience for a group event, Tanzy Restaurant offers artisanal Italian cuisine focused on locally sourced, thoughtfully prepared dishes by Executive Chef Bryan Podgorski, who hails from an impressive background at Bouchon and trained under Thomas Keller. From an intimate group dining experience to a full-restaurant buyout, the choices abound to create an exceptional experience.
What makes it stand out compared to other theaters in the area?
iPic is redefining entertainment. From the moment you arrive, you are transported by the iconic design of the space, as if you’re stepping into a stylish hotel or lounge. Guests enjoy a movie in ultimate comfort and style and select from many options to tailor their experience, including a choice between Premium or Premium Plus seating and a diverse, locally sourced gourmet menu conducive to in-cinema dining designed by the renowned chef Sherry Yard, who serves as corporate vice president of culinary direction.
How does it incorporate the Los Angeles experience for groups visiting from other parts of the world?
Los Angeles is the heart of the entertainment industry, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring the iPic experience here to give travelers from around the world, as well as local residents, the chance to have the ultimate movie-going experience in the center of the entertainment industry.
