Groups can get as close to the moon as possible without actually taking flight at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Home to the largest collection of space-flown vehicles in the world, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers a combination of both team building activities and event venues that encourage groups to explore space. Meeting planners can organize a Lunch with an Astronaut opportunity for attendees to hear personal stories from a veteran NASA astronaut over a meal. That same astronaut can give attendees a tour of Space Shuttle Atlantis, the Shuttle Launch Experience and other iconic sites throughout the center.
Groups can get more interactive with the Cosmic Quest, a team tournament mission that encourages attendees to build Martian habitats, launch rockets and even redirect asteroids in a live-action game experience based on NASA’s current space endeavors. Similarly, the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) takes attendees through actual astronaut training exercises with mission simulators, while the Journey to Mars multi-use space gives attendees the opportunity to discover NASA’s plans to explore Mars with interactive games and mock-ups of Mars rovers.
After a day of activities, groups can meet in one of several venues at the visitor complex. Space Shuttle Atlantis offers 90,000 sf of event space on its first floor, with the shuttle backdrop providing the ultimate décor. Similarly, the 100,000-sf Apollo/Saturn V Center is available for groups with the Saturn V moon rocket—the largest rocket ever flown—serving as its centerpiece. The Dr. Kurt Debus Conference Facility is also available for up to 220 attendees, and is surrounded by the outdoor Rocket Garden.
