Sun deck at Sandpiper
The all-inclusive meeting packages at the 307-room Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Florida, located one hour north of Palm Beach, make it convenient for groups to explore the resort and focus on the meetings at-hand. The expansive conference center, which can host groups of up to 1,000 attendees, was renovated in December.
We spoke with Sherri Gibson, business manager to learn more.
Prevue: What does Sandpiper Bay offer meeting planners that other resorts/meeting venues in the area do not?
Sherri Gibson: The convenience of an all-inclusive package with newly renovated, modernized accommodations from Club to Deluxe rooms and Deluxe Family rooms is a huge selling point. We have state-of-the-art meeting facilities including A/V equipment, WiFi and more. Our total meeting space is 16,600 square feet.
There’s a dedicated Groups Coordinator on-site. We provide easy transfers to and from airport and dining venues for private functions. For larger groups, Club Med offers a “rent-a-village” buy-out option, allowing the group to takeover the entire resort. And for groups with families, we offer exciting, age specific programs for children and teens.
Why should groups consider meeting at a Club Med?
Club Med has always served as a venue that provides every meeting with destinations in the most spectacular locations, gourmet dining options and premium sports and fitness programs. We have exceeded the expectations of guests with their most recent renovations at Club Med Sandpiper Bay. Completed in December 2010, the renovated conference center is able to accommodate up to 1,000 attendees including two ballrooms and nine meetings rooms, perfect for a corporate retreat.
What are some of the tailored teambuilding activities available for groups?
Club Med is able to tailor the offerings based on each individual groups needs, but some popular teambuilding activities include cocktail mixing lessons, wine tastings and tennis, sailing and paddle boarding lessons. With the vast array of sports offerings and world-renowned coaching, groups commonly take advantage of these offerings at Sandpiper Bay to encourage group bonding and interaction.
What are some unique ways that meeting planners have used outdoor spaces at your property?
Sandpiper Bay provides guests with an endless array of sports and activities, featuring expert instruction and top-of-the-line equipment. Sports and activities available include tennis, golf, yoga, fitness, sailing, flying trapeze/circus school, and more.
What is the best restaurant for groups at the resort and why?
Both restaurants at Sandpiper Bay provide gourmet dining for guests. The Marketplace is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves international cuisine in a market-place style ambiance with a selection of low-fat meals.
For an outdoor option, Soleil provides guests with a beautiful view of the St. Lucia River while dining on a la carte healthy options including a fresh juice bar, salads, wraps, light grill and full bar service. Nightly, the executive chef will propose varied specialty dished inspired by Florida’s local cuisine.
