We stopped by the new 155-room Rosewood Hotel Georgia Vancouver during opening week in July to tour the restored Georgian Revival building built in 1927. A handsome Art Deco design infuses all of the public areas and meeting spaces, like the elegant 2,900-sf Spanish Ballroom with original columns, cornices and ornate millwork.
“The ballroom sells the hotel,” says Peter Bruyere, director of sales/marketing. “It’s a restoration, not a renovation.” The new guestrooms are combos of two original rooms, trimmed out with turquoise and chocolate hues. The 5-piece loos are huge with opposing his/her vanities centered by a big Japanese soaking tub. And Hawksworth Restaurant offers private dining (bacon wrapped elk loin with Saskatoon berry jus) for 60 pax.
