Shortly after the first Iberostar landed on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, the hotel’s dedication to outstanding quality, superior service and exceptional amenities led to a AAA Four Diamond crowning, reserved for about 5 percent of the nearly 30,000 properties evaluated. The all-inclusive 5-star Iberostar Playa Mita in Riviera Nayarit, which debuted in December 2013, marked the 10th Iberostar hotel in Mexico; Annette Carollo, Iberostar’s director of group incentives, is sure it won’t be the last.

“Iberostar Playa Mita is a place where you go and it’s kind of a captive audience,” which is a natural draw for corporate events, family gatherings and other occasions where bonding and synergy building are on the agenda. The hotel offers planners 452 rooms, 7,000 sf of indoor meeting space, a wellness center and countless sports options, including the Litibu Golf Club, with stunning oceanfront views, all just 25 miles from Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

Of course, Riviera Nayarit’s growing reputation as Mexico’s luxury destination and the more than 180 miles of beautiful coastline and natural heritage awaiting exploration offer their own perks. But it’s the service that keeps planners coming back for more, Carollo says. “We are really focused on our customer experience—turning a new guest into a repeat guest.” Currently, about 42 percent of all Iberostar guests are repeat guests; the “Superfan Iberostar” loyality program honors many of them with VIP treatment and added perks.

It’s also about staying ahead of the curve, especially when it comes to the changing expectations of all-inclusives.

Iberostar’s “Chef on Tour” program is one case in point. Over the next year, sixteen internationally-recognized Michelin-Starred chefs will prepare 30 dinners that share Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ Spanish-infused cuisines with guests in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Spain. The program reflects Iberostar’s veer from the one-size-fits-all culinary equation that is generally attached, though much less so these days, to all-inclusives; the Playa Mita property boasts four specialty restaurants.

The new Iberostar Playa Mita hotel joins the Mexico portfolio along with nine other properties spread throughout Cancun, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit and Cozumel.
