InterContinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas

This July, the InterContinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas reopened in Porto, Portugal following a $43 million renovation. Housed inside a 200 year-old palace originally built as a monastery, the 105-room historic hotel overlooks the central Liberdade Square in the UNESCO World Heritage old city. Early reviews fawn over the charming location, the local cuisine at the legendary Cafe Astoria and the nearby cultural attractions.

Just a few of those must-sees include the 19th century Bolhão Market and the Ribeira medieval district filled with Art Deco restaurants, including some dating back to the Belle Epoque. Whatever you do, check out the 88 year-old Cafe Majestic, regarded as one of the 10 most beautiful bistros in the world.

The signature group experience is an excursion up the Duoro River valley to the famous port wineries like Sandeman, Taylor’s and Graham’s. Think of us please when you’re sipping a glass of 20-year tawny at Graham’s Port Lodge, with dining space for 160 pax.
