Costa Rica continues to attract groups for its adventurous spirit, with tree houses and waterfall hikes aplenty.

As the country continues to be named one of the spots to travel, it has begun to take its meetings infrastructure very seriously. Here are five venues to have on your radar this year and beyond.

Costa Rica Convention Center

Perhaps the most exciting news for meeting planners is the the Costa Rica Convention Center, which will be the country’s first when it opens this May. With a capacity for 6,571 attendees, the convention center will provide the infrastructure meeting planners have been looking for, with a nod to Costa Rica’s emphasis on sustainability. LED lighting and water heating systems with solar panels mix well with some of the industry’s latest technology equipment.

Lagarta Lodge

Smaller groups will want to take advantage of the new (as of January last year) Lagarta Lodge, located on the Nicoya Peninsula. The 26-room property provides groups the perfect escape, with remote beaches, water sports, a wine cellar shop and wellness activities such as aerial yoga and vinyasa available for attendees to take in Costa Rica’s sense of calm.

Four Seasons Papagayo Peninsula

A $35 million renovation that debuted in December gave this high-end property a refresh that redefines eco-luxury. The design of its 182 guest rooms, suites and villas and open-air lobby take note from the Costa Rican culture, with indigenous artwork, local wood and a natural color palette throughout.

Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa

The popular 120-room resort located in Guanacaste will soon join Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville empire after a rebrand and renovation scheduled to debut this November. Not only is the property located on the ecological Flamingo Beach, but it also features an oceanfront restaurant and lounge as well as meeting facilities overlooking the ocean.

Rosewood Puerto Papagayo

The much-anticipated opening of the Rosewood Puerto Papagayo is getting closer to its 2020 scheduled debut. Situated within a jungle canopy overlooking the Gulf of Papagayo, the resort oozes luxury throughout its 130 guest rooms and suites as well as 92 residences. Open-air living rooms, large terraces and plunge pools take advantage of the natural setting, while seven of the suites will take that sentiment a step further, designed to be two-story tree houses.
