After launching its first international meetings campaign last spring, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is only becoming more attractive for groups with InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) recent launch of Crowne Plaza Riyadh – RDC Hotel and Convention Center.

The 326-room property, located in Saudi Arabia’s capital of Riyadh, will help accommodate the growth of the city’s up-and-coming Al Ra’idah Digital City (RDC) mixed-use district. RDC will soon become the city’s hub for new information technology, with a plan of attracting more than 20,000 employees to work at new startups, companies and government agencies involved in the National Transformation Project 2020, an attempt to reduce the kingdom’s dependence on oil.

“The hotel is located in the new information technology area of Riyadh, that will be developed as the IT and communications hub in the city, and is expected to attract business travelers from across the world,” said Pascal Gauvin, managing director, India, Middle East & Africa for IHG. “We are observing an increased demand for guests who would like to have access to world-class business amenities. This hotel and the overall master development are perfectly suited to cater to this demand.”

The property features approximately 40,000 sf of meeting space, including the three-level circular conference center, a ballroom, 12 daylit meeting rooms and prefunction space—all of which are equipped with modern digital technology. While the hotel is conveniently located near the city’s new financial district, attendees won’t have to leave the property because it features a wide range of dining experiences, such as the all-day restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as Japanese and Brazilian specialty restaurants. Attendees can even get in some exercise between meetings by swimming in the outdoor swimming pool or playing tennis on the outdoor court. A health club also offers fitness equipment in addition to relaxing treatments for attendees in need of some R&R.
