The enrichment programs aboard Silversea Cruises have always provided inspiration for groups, and the rest of 2017’s lineup is no different.
Here are five cruise excursions with opera, ballet, food and wine, and wellness activities available for groups looking to cruise with culture.
Opera Cruises with La Scala Theatre Academy
The Milan, Italy-based La Scala Theatre Academy is known internationally for its education in opera. As such, Silversea Cruises hired soloists from its Academy of Lyric Opera and a piano accompanist to perform a selection of librettos aboard three Mediterranean cruises. Two will be aboard Silver Spirit, including a June 25 Rouen-to-Lisbon voyage that will feature operatic star Luciana Serra and a Sept. 21 sailing from Athens to Venice as well as one aboard Silver Muse on July 15, sailing from Athens to Rome.
Ballet Cruises with Russian & Parisian Dancers
Russian Ballet Soloists Daria Khokhlova and Artemy Belyakov from the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, a world-renowned ballet company, return to Silversea aboard Silver Spirit’s Aug. 25 and Sept. 3 Mediterranean voyages, where they will perform in the ship’s Show Lounge. Similarly, Solo Performer Jean-Sebastien Colau from L’Opera de Paris will grace the stage aboard Silver Whisper on its Oct. 23 sailing from Montreal to New York.
Culinary Arts & Wine Voyages
Silversea embraces the culinary arts with a wide variety of fall voyages that feature guest chefs and vintners. The Oct. 7 Taste of the Mediterranean cruise aboard Silver Spirit will bring guest chefs Umberto Menghi and Michael Jacob aboard to host a number of culinary demonstrations, market visits, gala dinners and culinary-inspired shore excursions. Silver Shadow’s Relais & Chateau Gourmet Cruise offers a similar culinary-focused voyage, while Silver Spirit’s Oct. 23 Wine Cruise shifts the focus to Italian wines. Finishing off the season, Silver Explorer’s Oct. 25 Culinary Expedition Voyage throughout South America highlights Peruvian and Chilean guest chefs and cuisines.
Wellness Expedition Voyages
Aboard Silver Discoverer, groups will find wellness-themed programming as they cruise to Micronesia, Melanesia and Australia. With departures on Oct. 4, Oct. 18, Oct. 25 and Nov. 9, the ship will offer complimentary yoga and Pilates classes, daily nutrition lectures and cooking demonstrations, gym sessions led by personal trainers and one complimentary spa massage treatment.
Bridge Cruise
Lastly, Silver Wind’s Nov. 10 voyage from Barcelona to Barbados will bring out the bridge player in any attendee. Dedicated to bridge enthusiasts, this sailing will encourage attendees to complete to win prices in the second Silversea bridge tournament, featuring American Contract Bridge League life masters Gerald Fox and Steve Smolen as hosts.
