For its first branded hotel in India, Conrad Hotels & Resorts has chosen a rising star in the tech universe: the city of Pune (pooh-nuh). Scheduled to open in 2015, Conrad Pune will offer 16,200 sf of meeting and event space, including an 8,300-sf ballroom, a breakaway function room, a spacious pre-function area, four boardrooms and a fully equipped 24-hour business center. Public spaces will include six dining venues, an outdoor swimming pool and a spa and fitness center.
The hotel will be located in the central business district of Pune, which is about 75 miles inland from the west-coast city of Mumbai. Pune has been known as the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra but is becoming something of a tech hub, attracting students and professionals from throughout southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa — all of which have helped it to develop quite a nightlife.
